Most of the good suggestions have already been made but I'll add a couple that I don't recall seeing. The 5 gal bucket for nature calls is a good one and I keep a roll of TP in a ziplock bag to complete the inventory. In addition to the wire cutters that Chalk mentioned, I carry a medium to small pair of good bolt cutters. I started carrying them a few years ago after picking up a ghost trap from the bottom of the Econfina during an extreme low tide. It was quite a chore to use a small pair of dikes, hang over the transom (it was February

)and avoid all the sharp barnacles that had grown on the wire to cut the blasted thing loose from the foot. Now if history repeats itself, I can use the bolt cutters which have some extra reach and don't take much muscle to snip the wires. Works good on bouy lines if you happen to tangle with one. Cell phone with Sea Tow's number in the directory list

I saw sunscreen mentioned and in addition, some sort of insect replent would be good if your fishing close in. Rain gear stays in my boat as well.

Enough said!!!
I think of you can fit everything listed above you would be ready for almost anything. My concerns in close are far less than offshore. When I am going out after all of the equipment is loaded I make sure and take plenty of food and water. Whatever your favorite is just so if something happens you have supplies until someone finds you. Learned this one first hand and I can tell you when you get out there and the motor quits and the radio is out you will be very glad to have something to hold you over.
Good luck and tight lines.

All of the above plus extra bilge pump, water fuel seperator filter, sea tow card, fish finder/deapth, lots of bait and tackle, list of the lawful length and number of fish, sta-bil, extra engine oil, trolling motor, lots of rags/hand towels, hand soap and a 2 gallon pee/wash down/ measuring scallop bucket.
When my wife goes we take about everything we own and she has gone every time so far.
All I have, we take when we go fishing. I just say we are going and try to find room in the truck to drive!

And prehaps the most important thing: a personal EPIRB
I bought mine a couple of years ago just after the football players drowned.
Cost around $450, but if get into real trouble, I know someone will know where I am. Sea-r-cy

Two anchors.
One with extra long line, and a fishing anchor with a buoy that can be easily detached to chase em down.
