We've been using the catch photo release format for years in the kayaking arena and with great success. There's no reason it can't work well in the boating world as well. For those that want to keep their fish, that's fine too. It just gives a lot of us the option to release the big breeder mammas. I rarely keep a trout, and when I do it's never one over about 18 inches.

Another good aspect to the photo and release format is you can also count overslot reds. With an artificial lures only format this will generally produce big reds, but not the giant bulls found offshore and in the passes.
I'm definitely in if we go with this.
Here's an example of a couple fish on a board which records to the 10th of an inch

Rule #3 is the format.
3.Present a pIcture on a legal measuring stick and verified weight by a marina, bait and tackle, etc presented as proof of catch and weight will be accepted.(Your personal scale does NOT count).

Anyone wishing to keep their fish alive to be released after the official weigh in may do so.
I know this is doable because the recent Cabelas tournament in St.Joe Bay released all trout and reds live except for one boat that brought their fish to the scale on ice.
Many of these fish were in livewells for up to 8 hours, then weighed, then released.

I think you'll lose a lot of particpants if you want them to weigh the fish!! Why not a length and girth photo to estimate the weight and provide the needed tie-breaker info  I'm not at all against keeping fish, but think the requirment of an offical weight is a little to much :smt004

I don't wanna have to take the fish out of the water to a marina to get a weight. If its just a photo for the length, I am in.
CPR

Put your glasses on old man. I'm in if its CPR. You can still take a picture and then eat it if you want. Tie goes to the earliest one sent in.

I have my glasses on.
I can see that the mouths are not closed, the heads are not at the end of the board and the tails are not pinched.
Other than that,I am proposing a BIG TROUT not a LONG TROUT.

What he's saying is he doesn't know how to load pics or attach them to stuff.

Its your tournament, and to make it easier you set the rules. You tell people that the mouth has to be closed and its the end of a pinched tail. You have three judges. I can find more reasons to do CPR than not.
