1st step you need to be supporting other tournaments in the area like any NFGFC,Rocky's,Jerry's Bait if you want people to support your Tournament.

There is no shortage of inshore tournaments around this part of the Gulf.
If there was a call for more redfish tournaments there would already be more redfish tournaments.

If a well managed, well run, well sponsored redfish tournament trail was introduced it would probably have a following.
It takes a tremendous amount of work to set up and maintain a successful tournament, especially a tournament trail.

Crazy. My two passions are running and fishing. This competitive fishing thread sounds just like competitive running threads, where somebody proposes hosting a new race, and the naysayers attack. The solution: let them give it a shot, and the market will decide. One of three things will happen:

1. Successful event! Now it's on the annual calendar. Naysayers clam up. Proponents cheer.
2. Marginal event. Host will either give up or regroup to make it better. Naysayers/proponents squabble.
3. Utter flop! Host gives up. Naysayers cheer. Proponents clam up.

Life is short. Host that sucker, and I'll support it (once, anyway).

Yes by coming and fishing our Feb. NFGFC Tournaments weighs in 2 Redfish that would be a start don't know your abilities but I have fished the FLW Redfish tournaments before it takes alot of time and money to be competitive these local tournaments allow less time and money to be successful. Also most are run by very professional folks with a wonderful group of fishermen and women supporting them.

Figured some of yall would decide to be cocky and all "i know everything about everything" but if yall put ya dagum egos aside and help a newbie get somethin off the ground it might turn into to somethin yall can win some $ in and have fun with...for those of you that posted positive info I appreciate it...im not saying im all of sudden gonna just throw a huge 2 refish tournament next week all by myself. Just tryin to get some gears turning here, if you dont have anything helpful or positive to add go click the little button that says new topic and start your own llittle thread so you can be mr cocky from your computer chair.

If any yall wanna help me get somethin off the ground, or even step in and start one up yourself so i can fish it, let me know!

Tell ya what,

Come to the next NFGFC meeting (Tally) or tournament (Carrabelle) and ask some folks what they like and don't like. Really listen and you'll get better ideas on how to make yours better.

Talk to Warrior or Redtrout (Brian Hurley) or Casey Cook or Otto about what it takes to put a tournament on. Those guys have put some dang good ones together and know the ins and outs of the operation side of it. The Redtrout is a great format (80+ boats) and the fall tournament looks to be just as great. Warrior's tournament Saturday (25+) was one of the most unique and fun ones I've been a part of, I mean where else can you go and fish for a big trout and red or going after a limit of slot fish? Otto's Jack & Jill tournament was a great draw as well and probably would've been bigger if the weather had been better.

If you're really serious, let some of those guys know what you've got in mind.

Agreed. In addition to getting some first hand experience, you'll meet folks with scales, measuring sticks, connections to sponsors and weigh-master expertise. There is some money tied up in these items and you don't want to purchase to run one tourney. If you're serious, then there will be people at both the meeting and tournament who can help you. If you want to organize from your computer chair, then best of luck.
In the end we will conserve only what we love. We will love only what we understand. And we will understand only what we are taught.

So far the only people you have heard from have been running monthly tournaments for 12 years or more.
Not all of them were what we would call successful in the beginning.
We are speaking from experience.
BTW,our tournaments are still running and getting bigger.
