I looked into it a bit, wikiclicked a few times. Best guess is a Mauser, but I've got no ideas on the model or vintage.

Wevans, consensus on the gun forum is that it is a Spanish Mauser M43/44.

I like Frank Murphy of T&F Firearms up in Thomasville. He's got one of the best reputations in the area.
