SEVERAL YEARS BACK I HAD TO REBUILD A SEA RAY THAT HAD THE LITTLE V-6 ENGINE WITH THE ALPHA OUTDRIVE, I FOUND OUT IT MUCH LESS COST TO RIP OUT THE OUT DRIVE, INBOARD ENGINE, REBUILD THE TRANSOM , PUT ON A JACK PLATE AND POWERED IT WITH A USE 115 EVINRUDE OUT BOARD ENGINE. TOTAL COST WAS JUST OVER $3,500.00, PLUS $2,590.00 FOR THE OUTBOARD. THIS DID NOT COVER ANY LABOR, I DID THAT FOR A FRIEND, HE COULD HAVE JUST JUNKED THE SEA RAY AND BOUGHT A REAL NICE LATE MODEL CENTER CONSOLE FOR LESS THAN $10,000. WE TRIED TO GET THE OLD V-6 INBOARD TO TURN OVER, IT WOULD NOT BUDGE, TOOK A SHORT PIECE OF 4X4 TIMBER AND BEAT ON THE CYLINDERS WITH A SLEDGE HAMMER AND IT WOULD NOT BUDGE, THE OUT-DRIVE UNIT WAS ALSO FROZEN UP, MY FRIEND NEVER RAN FRESH WATER THROUGH THE UNIT AFTER GOING INTO SALT WATER. I WOULD HIGHLY ADVISE YOU NOT TO TAKE THAT BOAT INTO SALT WATER, IF YOU DO WILL NOT TAKE LONG FOR IT TO BE RUINED.
