Another stupid response- jury rig your tiller handle so you can stand so you can see where you are going and then you can go around the major grass mats. But every once in a while come off plane and slide her into reverse for a second or two and start off again. I ocassionally turn and make sure my engine is pissing water while I'm up on plane...

Thanks everyone for the great input, I will try several of this next time, I think the height on the transom is good and don't think I can adjust it really, I'm going to move it from the trim poss I have it in and see if that may help to, gonna try and just avoid it if I can and maybe do a little zig zag to keep from building up. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with this problem.

Im gonna see if I can just idle down yank it up and clear it without killing it and then having to yank on it again(non electric start) to get me going again as well thanks again everyone

going to reverse almost always works for me
