This might be a question we could ask Brian about. Sure, no assistance for a motor that wont start or I lost my favorite fishing rod overboard or we forgot our lunch. , But in an emergency situation there should be no question about assistance. Just my thoughts.

Scary!! Glad y'all made it back ok and all gear accounted for. Hearing that also make me nervous to go around those rocks, I'm in a Jon, no bilge, no insurance, I get a hole like that she's gonna be sitting on the bottom. Try to have those on my handheld gps so I know where they are, but some times don't really trust it and I hear those rocks like to move :)

I'm glad everyone is safe. RB the rules are very clear about towing another boat, I don't necessarily agree, but they are very clear. And KF, I'm not sure if you have ever been to the rock garden at low tide, but I don't think there is any way possible to mark all of the rocks. It would take a long long time. Good luck on the boat search!!

I have to put a plug in here for Progressive Insurance. My boat was insured for $4,000.00. I just met the adjuster at my house - He looked the boat over and said the hull was a total loss. He would either write me a check for $4k and I could sign the title over to him, or he could make the check for $4k - deductible - salvage value of boat = $2980.00.

I went with the second option so I could keep my motor, and he handed me a check and I keep what's left of the boat, motor and trailer.

Only two days after the collission with no endless paperwork....

Smelling like roses, Steve. I had a Progressive policy for several years and the only time I needed it, they came through in a hurry.

Now you can sell the old hull for scrap and get another one. Or maybe talk RiverRunner out of FRP's old pine-tree jon.

Here's one in Ocala at Miller Marine. Jeff Miller is the current chairman of CCA Florida and a super nice guy.

I am familiar with the folks at Millers Family Boating in Ocala. My boat originally came from their shop. They are definitely good folks and jet-foot experts. I would like to have a SeaArk 1872, but my motor wouldn't push it.

I am considering buying a Grizzly Tracker 1860 jon boat, then adding my console and motor.

Glad you made it back safe Steve.......and it sounds like you will be back on the water soon.

While we were fishing Sunday Silverking and I were discussing the merits of having a welded Jon boat for fishing the winter and the far-east. I told him I would be happy to fish with him in one......as long as in the event that it started sinking we could either A) easily swim the 50 feet to the rivebank or B) just stand up and walk back to the ramp. :-D

No trips across to the Dog for me. :smt018

Ha, I've already been talked out of that boat. My best friend "SlowRoller" on here bought it and is in the process of looking for a Motor and trailer for it.

Steve, glad everything worked out for you.

Since reading about this accident I am going to put another high capacity bilge in my tin boat. It will be an automatic bilge of the highest capacity wired directly to the battery.
Steve your almost sinking story is scary, and could happen to anyone out there.

Glad you made it back to the hill, and sorry to hear about your boat. BUT...damn a tournament when distressed and in need of assistance.
