Re: Gheenoe & Riverhawk: Give me the skinny
I have a Riverhawk B-60. They are wider than the Gheenoe, and cheaper. My brother has the one of the new Super Gheenoes. Although his is about a foot narrower than mine, it seems to be just as stable and is rated for 25 hp (mines rated for 20 hp). The Gheenoe does appear to have a more durable finish on it, plus I like how the front of the Gheenoe is built to ride over the chop, whereas mine kind of cuts through it if you're not planed off. They are both great boats, If I had it to do again, I'd probably stick with the Riverhawk just for the price and for that extra foot of width. I can do about 26 mph in mine with a Honda 20, my brother has an older Yamaha 15 hp 2 stroke on his and it 'll do about 22 mph (Gheenoe claims it can do over 30 mph with a 25hp). In a boat that small, you don't really need or want to go much faster than that. They are both great boats. I would just keep both in mind and keep my eye out for the best deal.
