I remember using the same (outrigger) two rod technique to catch kings in Daytona back in the late 70's. I was taught by an old timer who had alot of experience and had some mercy on an ATL kid who loved salt water fishin!! Lost alot of thumb tissue in the early years due to excitement and big smokin kings! Good times!!:) I specifically remember showing up on the same pier in PC back in the late 90's using that same two rod technique. Take a long surf rod with alot of weight/clothes hanger contraption and throw it as far as possilbe and secure it to the railing with rope. Take your king rod with live bait and attach the swivel to a clothes pin and slid down the secured line just below the surface. King hits, pops the clothes pin, and you are off to the races!! They thought I was crazy till I caught my first king using that technique and it works great when the wind in blowin hard toward the end of the pier! Great story, brought back alot of memories of my youth!
