The Stick It Pins are a smaller diameter than all the other suggestions? Do they hold as well?
I made a stake out pole out of a surveyors point and pvc when I had a kayak. But will that work in a 15 knot wind? The one I made is only 4' long. If you say yes, I'll make one 8'.

Good question... I'd think you'd want at least .75 it not a 1" diameter to be able to put something on it to drive it in to the bottom.... but, what do I know lol.

Well, duh. I just looked up Stick It Anchor Pin, again. And the 8' one is 3/4" diameter.
I'll be a thinking.

From my experience with the Stickit pin it's the flexibility that gives it really good holding power. When the winds gust it flexes well with the sudden boat movement absorbing the shock and staying embeded. Don't know anything about the other types though.

For those that use these anchor pins, is the 8' long enough or will the additional 2' be better?

I'd go with the 10'. Just saying. You may need a push pole. I'm going to try turning my 4', 3/4
PVC one into one.

You can use a 10' in 18" of water, but you can't use an 8' in 7.5' of water. Buy the long one.

I've never gotten a call or email from Grainger telling me my part was in. I haven't followed through to go get it either. Maybe when it gets warmer I'll follow up.

I got mine from grainger but I haven't did the project yet, not sure yet how I'm gonna seal it so I don't get any splinters, was gonna sand it and try spraying poly on it and then putting a wrap of some sort where ill be putting my hand most of the time. Ill follow up when I get it done, prob within the next month or so

Hmmmm... enough free time on your hands to come up with the infamous "singed kitty / tuna juice cocktail" ...good God, man, that's hard to even type :smt078... but not enough to bother calling Grainger. Glad to see you've got your priorities in the right order! ;-)

Red,
The white pvc will eventually become brittle. Personal experience using it for dive flag poles. They last three or four good years though. I started using the electrical gray PVC schedule 40. It last longer, and looks better than the white.
