BTW: Lump is a never ending debate for "Egg Owners"!! Which burns longer, or cleaner, or too big, or too small, or has too many rocks in it, etc..... The manufacturer sells "Big Green Egg Lump' for over a buck a pound and is made by Royal Oak. Walmart sells an 8.8 pound bag of royal Oak for about $6.59, but recently introduced a double sized bag 17.6 pound bag for ten bucks. Don't know if it still on sale?? Using the smaller bags for years, i figured my average cost for lump was about two bucks.. So the bigger bags will lower that figure to about a buck and a half!! Much cheaper than the average cost of a charcoal grill....

"LUMP" is a natural kiln dried wood product that burns very much like "charcoal" but much hotter. The egg's construction of ceramic material provides excellent insulation qualities and it's ability to control the airflow into the fire allows you to cook for long times at low temperatures for things like pulled pork. It also allows you to cook at high temperature for things like pizza. Unlike the average grill, the egg is sealed off after you finish cooking by shuting off the air intake, which puts the left over "lump" out, while charcoal grills burn up the balanced coal.

I have a large egg -- diameter of the grill is 18 inches -- there are larger and smaller! This is a shallow cast iron pan that i found, there are many different sizes and shapes of cast iron pots and pans to use on grills. Some people might buy a larger cast iron pan, but cut the handle off?? Blackening fish finishes SO fast, that this size works fine for me..
