For 3-6, I will. Just need to find one for that. What year should I be looking for in that price range? Also, how many hours do ya'll think is too many? of course I will have compression tested as well.

I have ran mercs nearly my whole life. Tried a yammerhaw, and currently have a Suzuki 225 four stroke. I will never own anything else.

Well, after deciding to not go with a new or later model used, I had my guy fix my old one. Also had a new jack plate installed. I told him on Monday to get it ready to go and if he came upon a good deal on a late model used (any brand) that was a deal, give me a call. On Tuesday, he called. Someone traded in an 06 175 Opti-freshwater only and around 500 hours. I was a little worried about downsizing - not because of top end, but because of hole shot. It is a back heavy boat. The deal was fantastic. So after talking to him a bit, he said he would put it on and if I did not like it after running it a bit, he would just take it off. Can't beat that, so I told him to go for it. I took it to Talquin and it snapped up on plane. Maybe a couple mile an hour off the top end, but with a now functioning jack plate, I should get that back. I did not play with the jack plate because the smart craft was not yet hooked up - no water pressure gauge (I had to have it Wednesday). I took it to the coast with 2 passengers and we caught some bait and filled the bait well and I filled the live well too, just to see and it had every bit the hole shot of the old carb 200. Just put my old prop on, a Tempest 19 and it was perfect. Running good rpms. heading to St George in the am to really give it a work out for a week. I saved a ton of coin by being patient. Did have to upgrade my cranking battery, but I was due anyways.

Oh yeah, he has already sold my foot and someone is interested in the powerhead. What I will get for the two will be gravy.

It had a new foot on it that is still under warranty.
