Find a bridge with a lot of barnacles and growth on it, anchor under it and soak some fiddlers on the bottom. This time of year, that gets you out of the hot sun. If nothing else, you might catch a monster black drum. A lot of guys like to scrape the barnacles off the bridge to draw them in.

That spinnerbait tho? I was talking to another paddler that said he caught his first sheepshead using an Unfair slow suspending twitch bait. I wouldn't rely on those though, but I am curious.

SUCCESS! Got my first sheepie, on a double fiddler crab presentation, on a small (#2, NOT 2/0) owner SSW hook, with just enough weight to keep it on the bottom. Specifically: 1/8oz bullet weight on short leader. To pay back all the great advice, I will tell you precisely where I got it: Big Cove (east of the lighthouse at St Marks) in a feeder creek at the south side of the cove. If you are coming in from the bay, angle southeast. The creek has a sharp bend, with a small hole that I've extracted big reds and trout from. Now I know it houses sheepshead, too!
Big thanks to all who gave advice on this thread. You are all (I'm not kidding!) in my personal giveaway raffle for a new Skeet Reese spinning rod that I will bring to the next NFGFC meeting. Must be present to win.
By the way, nobody told me that an 18 inch Sheepie fights like a midslot red. And that their dorsal spines can draw blood. Wow times two. Gary

Knew you'd persevere and be successful, Gary. Congrats.
You must have glanced over my remarks that I thought I'd hooked a gator trout the last sheepie I hooked. They do fight well and eat pretty good too.
What's next on the bucket list?
