There is only one guy that replied that owns a business that services and fixes reels. I'd listen to Jim (fishinfool)
also, I recently got a shimano thannus that has the baitrunner feature. I didn't think I'd like it, but I love it for tarpon and cobia ( or any live bait fishing)

That is true. However the first guy to answer the OP has a bit of experience with new reels too. I would not discount his freely given expert opinion.

Ha ha, your right. I've already been chastised ( not really) for leaving out Capt Dave. The guy knows his stuff and has tested more reels than most of us will ever own. Only two things, he upgrades regularly, and probably hasn't used a reel over 2 yrs old in some time, and he probably hasn't used a reel that was under $200 ever

No worries, Salty Gator. But I do have to call you on your last statement. My set of Stellas is at least three years old.

One option is the Penn Spinfisher V 6500 with a 10 ft surf rod for $199.99 . The second opption is you could do a Penn Battle II with our Offshore Angler Power Stick surf rod, both of these setups would be great for something in that $200 price range.
