wasn't trying to ruffle feathers. If you're willing to share, what kinds of lures are you throwing when you gut hook fish?

I drove down yesterday and launched at the ramp in the Wild life refuge then fished the oyster bar just west of the St. Marks lighthouse ...nothing there, so moved out and fished in 4 to 7 ft due south.. plenty of boats fishing the same area but we had all we could do just trying to keep the pinfish away from the lures... only trout we caught there were under 10". so moved 10 miles east to some spots I hadn't fished since 2011. Second cast there gave up an 18" trout and then we caught a 2 man limit of 16" to 18" trout within the next 20- 25 casts. They were fired up and hungry. Released probably 10 more keepers and 4 or 5 under sized fish after that and then they turned off. Finished the day with catching around 60 total and brought a limit of ya'll's fish back to Alabama. :D

15 years ago we made a decision after going several weekends at St Marks catching 50-60 trout with 7-8 keepers.

We moved East to less pressured waters where our catch numbers dropped to 20-30, but our keeper numbers increased to 50% of what we caught.

I fished the long bar out in front of the lighthouse last week. Caught a nice 25 inch trout free lining a live shrimp.
