If the trip materializes for anyone and you happen to be in the Lafayette area, there is an absolute must restaurant. You will not be sorry you checked it out

Here is their site http://prejeans.com/site1.php The venison tenderloin is outstanding. Save room for some Jack Daniels Bread Pudding
  Done made my self hungry

Im in on a group trip to la. If we can get 6 to go, renting a camp would be the thing to do. Need to be able to fish at least two full days. Leave Fri afternoon come back on mon. The trip takes about 7 hrs with no lolligaggin around, the roads in La stink starting around Slidel so if you have never been beware

I know that myself and one fishing partner are already counting on going probably in Mid May. I do not have a date confirmed beacuse I am trying for the Turkey Grand Slam this spring and I might be gone. If anyone has a time that works best, just set the date and lets roll. We have stayed at the Redfish Inn in Empire and it is Ok for a fish camp. That puts you right in the middle of Port Sulphur and Venice. The redfish has 5 or 6 camp houses that hold from 3 to 8 people. With a little planning we could probably rent several of the camp houses and have a big party right the in the low country. For those that have not been, do not expect much in the way of convieniences. For those of you that have been, I know you will be first in line to go back!!! Count me and at least one more in for the trip. We will be bringing our own boat.

. Seriously though, I like the idea of a group trip, but I imagine scheduling is going to be quite a headache. That being said, I am definately interested

Some one just pick a date and lets see if we can make it happen. Mothers Day is May 8th anything else would be acceptable. We should probably start another thread so others that do not read this can join in. I can assure you the trip will be great fun. I went in December and the conditions were horrible and the fishing was still better than any I have seen in a long time. April is suppose to be the month for monster trout. The guy who owns the red fish inn says they catch several 7 lb trout and an occasional 8 lb every spring. The redfish are there almost all of the time unless it get s really cold for several days.
Let do it!!!

When is the best time for big Reds on topwater. I would love to watch some big Bulls 'xplodin on top. I'm gettin goose bumps just thinking about it
 .
P.S. When setting a date, there are a couple of local tournament dates that might interfere with the plans of some people here.
Team Seatrout Tournament Trail
2005 Schedule:
March 6 • April 10 • May 1
June 5 • July 24 • August 7
September 18 • October 16
and November 6
Some one else can post the NFGC dates that has them. I think that if we are gonna find a good date then we should spend a few days compiling a list of events, and dates that could conflict first and then see if we can set a clean date for as many people as possible.
