I fish mainly inshore and have 1 Stradic 2500, and 3 of the 1000s. I really like the smoothness of the Stradic and it has a fine drag as well. My fall back reels are Penns and willl have to admit they require less maintenance than the Stradics. Now ya'll have got my curiosity up about the other reels mentioned and I might have to try those next.

Anyone looking at spinning reels should look at the new reels offered by Quantum. The Cabo, Boca, Catalyst Inshore, Energy, Catalyst, and Kinetic are all great reels for fresh or saltwater, and chances are one of them is in your price range. I have bought four of the Kinetics in the 20 and 30 sizes now and don't think I could be any happier. The oldest is a 20 and is over 3 years old now with absolutely no problems. They are my favorite reels and get fished weekly wading or from my kayak.

I've been hearing good things about the Quantum Boca and the Diawa Whisker SS on other boards.
