I don't know if any of you have ever heard of this but...My friend uses the pole from one of those pool cleaning tools. It's extendable to whatever length you want. You can also buy the "foot" that goes on the end so it doesn't sink in the mud. It collapses enough to fit in a rod box and extends to 12' or so. It's made out of aluminum.
