10-4 FF....I agree w/ that for 'any' state.....and any size boat. I would be willing to partake in any state/fed. run course, even though I only run a 19 footer and feel that I'm an acknowledgeable boater, as long as it meant every other d.a. had to attend also.

Of course, I could have just been cranky because all I caught was a couple of gaff topsails...thanks for the venting time....now fish!

BOATING MANNERS

I've been fishing here since 1968 and it's always been this way. More boats more idiots. More boats more drunks.

The only requirement a person needs to purchase a boat is a down payment and a little credit. He turns the key and is immediately made a boater. There is more to boating than RIGHT RED RETURN. People with inferiority complexes always want a larger faster boat so they can go fast show off and feel superior. That's why jet skis and wave runners were invented. What they do is look stupid. If they are anatomically challenged (small) in a particular area a very big or fast boat seems to help.

Yes, we have needed a state/nationally imposed rule that ANYONE who drives a boat must study, take a test and buy a license. You need one for a car, a plane, a large commercial truck, or to accept pay for using a boat.

The Florida Marine Patrol doesn't mind being told about violations. Call in the boat number and give the details. If they get a few calls they will investigate.

See you on the water.

I don't own a boat, nor do I fish regularly with anyone that does. (not that I wouldn't, mind you..)

All I ever do is wade out in the grass flats, and let me tell you, I've had my share of rudeness bestowed upon me.

Most times my son and I will be fishing and boaters will come right through where we're casting. Then other times, they'll anchor right next to us. We look at each other like "Isn't there a huge gigantic bay they could be fishing?" Some of these guys don't realize that they could go anywhere they like, but us waders have this one little spot. I think many times they use us as their fish-finders.. you know like "Well, if they're fishing there, there must be good fishing there!"

Don't get me started on all these tracks they lay in the grass flats.. I think I heard it takes 7 years for that turtle grass to grow back properly.

Ok, I'm done venting.. boy was that building up for some time!
:-D
