To us or the fish? Obvious they mean a lot to the fish. The trouble for us is that we aren't fish. (Uh oh, I guess I finally admitted it)
I've posted before that I really like 1/4 moons because of the minimal water exchange. It often results in an extended bite IF you can find the fish. With more water movement the fish move (or the conditions change)so it is more likely to cross paths with them or be in the right conditions. Problem is they leave more quickly or turn off because of the changing conditions.

Well then...SirReel, that's just about the best written story, I've read on this forum. And, it sez it all about the 'so called' fishing forcast and signs.
I think, we all have been on, what was suppose the best days and times to go, and did fair to middling to zilch.
The best time to go, is when you feel like it.
That's not to say, the weather and other conditions don't have anything to do with it.. It's just that, just like in deer hunting and other such, it's being in the right place at the right time.
I read this someplace- It's not about, killing something everytime you go out, it's about "to hunt to have hunted" (fished to have fished)- To be outdoors- To enjoy the chase.
Maybe a hundred years ago, it was more important to catch your quarry, when it was depended on for your daily nurishment. Take what you need and not waste the resources.
This is precisely the reason I don't have a problem with most set limits on game and fish. Some folks don't seem to have any sense of conservation.

Okay, enough redneck philosophy.

The fish weren't in "The Hole" today. Caught 1 flounder there. Did manage 3 rat reds further up the creek. But there was an Xpress tin boat anchored right where I wanted to fish.
