I use a loop knot on any inshore hard bait or jig anymore. Can't remember what it is called, but it is easy to tie and quick. I also use around 3 feet of 15-20# fluoro leader most of the time. That is when using braid or 10# mono though.

heard not to use a loop knot on topwater....something to do with the action of the lure when there's a tight connection w/ the main line against a free moving knot on the main line....don't know if any of it's true.....but that's what
they say....

I'm not sure what it's called but you loop the line through the eye an wrap it around like you were going to do a uniknot but then put the tag end through the top loop and pull UP. For topwater I usally put a coulple half-hitchs on the end.
