All cast nets recommend the fabric softener soak. You can really feel the nylon get softer. I think it helps to get the net to open up and lay flat. I've got a 10' net and its a real pain to throw. I'm talking physical pain, the dang thing is so heavy!


Those little 5' nets are easy to throw but they only work good for top baits and water less than 3' deep. Any deeper and the bait just swims out from under then net before the net can sink to the bottom. Thats what the larger nets are for.
