I don't need an opinion. I have the fishing regulations. You guys fish like you want. I said culling reds is illegal - it clearly is. Guys might have great arguments on why that isn't fair or how it differs from freshwater regs or how getting caught is real hard but the fishing regs are crystal clear.

I have a real different opinion of people who come on here and say they plan on willfully breaking our Florida Fishing Regulations. Lots of political capital and effort went into making the regs on redfish rec-friendly (one fish bag limit; gamefish status)... and for rec guys to get on the internet and say they plan on fishing how they want irregardless of those regs that were fought for by others is not at all laudable.

Are you guys planning on culling your fish at the NFGFC tourney on Saturday? If so let me know and I will sleep-in and save my entry fee.

hey I'm just trying to find a way to stay within the regs. What your read on the terms listed above? Honest question.

Alright, I'll bite The ONLY way to cull a Redfish and stay within the law "IMO" is to release the Red that you have in the live-well BEFORE you actually LAND the fish on your line You just gotta be GOOD at estimating what a fishes length is and live with your decision and I plead the 5th on how I cull mine

We all break the law on occassion when driving, and fishing isn't different. I have a weakness for using undersized rock bass as bait offshore. Shoot me.

I just want to make sure everyone knows its illegal (like my rock bass baits).

If the FWC ever stops me offshore with my buddies and finds 12 7-inch rock bass in our livewell I am getting out my fishing licence and later my checkbook. I am not going to be asking for the definition of terms or pointing-out differing freshwater regulations pretending its not illegal.

I am sorry you feel that way, I am also sorry that you can not see the point that I am making. But I wouldn't condone you for being straight forward and speaking your mind, as you have on a forum. You should really think about how trivial this really is. What is it really we are talking about, taking a live fish and replacing with another live fish or is it that I admit that I think the rule is stupid and admit that I will do it.

Live fish for a live fish is wrong, but gut hooking a 13" trout and throwing it back in the water, belly up to die, is right.

I follow the rules better than probably anyone on this site, including I do not drink alcohol period while on a boat, I don't like the cull rule and think it's stupid...We are talking one regulation that I find wrong and state my opinion on, if your opinion of me is different, I'm sorry that your opinion is so easily swayed based off my opinion of one minuscule topic.

These are some of the comments received by the comission that I don't think are fully addressed in the document but are valid points.

that the common angler’s reaction to this rule is outrage
· This rule shows that when it comes to influence and money, those with
it win."

Most of the concern comes from the fact that all of the " major" maufactures don't make boats with what the comish sees as large enough livewells. Appparently the fishing regulations can change based on not what is good for the resource but what is good for the manufactures. Also, it appears that if you can pay the tournament fees you are considered more responsable and worthy of special treatment.

So you guys know its illegal but think the reg is bad? Did I wind up on the wrong thread?

I could swear I started-out by saying culling redfish was illegal.

Then someone asked me "show me where it difinitively states..." and I asked if anyone seriously thought it was legal to cull and the answer was "Yes." So I cut and paste the reg which definitively states that culling is illegal (prohibited).

Now this is all a misunderstanding about our differing beliefs in the propriety of the particular rule? Go back one page - I never said I liked the rule.

I think I am going to go contribute to the gill netter defense fund this weekend at least they're honest about just flat-out breaking fishing regs they don't like.
