I am in Guys, I have rods and lots of experience. Just give me plenty of notice. As I don't get to the computer much the best way to get to me is through Cairo trout or Bird Dog.
Cheers

Great idea, Capt. I see you have had a lot of response.
Count me in. I have an 18 ft, Kenner center console with a Bimini top and a bow & a stern casting deck. It has a trolling motor on the bow. I bought it to fish the flats. I have three 8wt rods that I use: one has a sink-tip line and the other two have floating. I just purchased a Scientific Angler Red-fish floating line and need to try it out. I am ready to go.
We do have the Florida Big Bend Flyfishers club in Tallahassee. We are a charter club of the Federation of Fly Fishers and members of the Florida FFF Council. Recently we held a fly fishing clinic at McClay School that was well attended. Since the Fly Shop is closing down, we are considering sponsoring casting lessons if there is an interest. These do not have to be in Tallahassee each time. We have some interest in having one in Panama City. We are also exploring beginning & experienced fly tying classes and a class in rod building. If any of you are interested, let me know.
Let me know what you are planning, Capt R.

Hi there TallyFly! I used to be a member of the FBBF club but not since 1999...I will rejoin next month. In the meantime, I welcome you to our little group of fly flippers - we seem to be "coming out of the woodwork"! I always figured there were a few "closet" fly fishermen, but this is a much better response than I could have dreamed of!
I've been secretly casting about for years now, yet never finding another fly caster out on the flats (of course, I mostly fish during the weekdays - since retirement). Since my little demonstration (and one man charge into the realm of teaching novice fly fishing) at the club meeting on the 19th, many people have stepped forward and desire to "fly" together, let us say!
We also have a few fly tyers in our group which has proved to be a special treat, at least for me. I awakened from a five year lay off in fly tying and barged ahead into it again with some fleeting success. Well, let's just say no one has pm

me about the quality of my tied flies we swapped a few weeks ago!
Let me organize all these names and boats, together with novice verses experienced fly fishers, and we'll kick this thing off with a grand get-together next month! In the meantime, I'm waiting on G. Loomis to fix my broken #8 (I foolishly casted around my son's T-Top & the top won) so I can get back into the game.

A. Anybody have any ideas as to when & where we can all (or most of us) get together in the next few weeks for a trial run on this? I'm thinking a weekend will be easier on most folks!
B. Does anybody on the list especially want to fish with another person on the list? Otherwise, I'm thinking about randomly mixing experienced with inexperienced or some experienced!
C. Our next NFGFC meeting is 8/16 - shall we make any firm decisions after that meeting? This will allow me to meet with club members on the list!
D. I still need a volunteer to help me put this thing together?

I saw the ? mark by my name so I'm chiming in.
I've got a Hewes Bonefisher 16. I'm still up in the air about trailering it an hour or so to an area that I don't know at all. So, if somebody has a good knowledge of the area, I might be able to bring it over. If somebody has a boat but no fly fishing knowledge, I'll be happy to pole them in their boat also. It would make it a lot easier.
Also, I will probably need at least a week's notice. I've got a 5 month old daughter and I never know what's going to happen week to week. Between her, work and my businesses, I can't just drop everything and leave town.
I also will be travelling in the middle of Sept for work. I'm not solid on the dates.
So,

it would be a lot easier if somebody already has a boat and I can just jump in the truck and drive over. I've got a few 8wt's, a 9wt, and a 10wt outfit I can bring. Lamsons, Sage, Tibor and a custom rod.
I really enjoy teaching people how to fly fish. It's always an exciting experience watching somebody get their first fish on a fly rod.

Capt Reggie...I'm far from "experienced". I've got a flyrod, that's about all I can say. But I do have a boat and don't mind being chauffeur.

Thank you, Eerman & Jacknasty...I have made the corrections! I'll let you know some more when I get it better organized!

I probably should be demoted to "some experience" as well....
I have two setups and have caught fish. The "experienced" label comes with too many expectations.
However, I can be a strong fishing partner for someone with a boat and a vacant seat.....
