Late December of 1970 after a strong freeze, I caught six specks over 7 pounds each out of one hole on one morning in the Steinhatchee River with one nearly pulling the scale to 8lbs. My brother had one over 8lbs. Dad had several at 7 lbs. Catch for the day with three fishermen was an old steel sided 40 quart coleman cooler full and one 30 gal tin trash can full. That was over 80 trout. When we left the hole at a little after 2 in the afternoon, you could walk across the boats back to Pace's fish camp/marina. The next morning, we ran up river to the bend in the river and caught as many or more trout and many nice reds. These trout were not as big, but most were over 4lbs. I saw one that day that was huge and said to be over 10lbs. It looked it. Now ya'll know how old I am :-D
Its a wonderful day in the neighborhood!
