Can't lie, love just about all music... got everything on my MP3 player from Carmina Burana to Gold Digger.
But... I'm a Carolina boy by birth with Scottish roots and think it's given me a greatest love for old school bluegrass. Flatpicker, definitely would pick your list over any others I've seen
I'm 41 years old, but like REALLY OLD bluegrass...
Bill Monroe (The Old Cross Road, I'm Traveling On and On, Blue Moon Of Kentucky)
Ralph Stanley (Katy Daley, I'll Remember You Love, Man of Constant Sorrow)
Mac Wiseman
Doc Watson (ALL!)
Even some Grandpa Jones (Ol' Rambler, Down the Old Plank Road)
On the newer side, hard to beat Ricky Scaggs. As for female bluegrass musicians, if a more angelic voice exists than Alison Krauss, I haven't heard it... her version of "Down to the River to Pray" is pure magic

.
Like some country too but still prefer older stuff.
Hank Sr
Jerry Reed ("She got the gold mine" cracks me up every time)
Johnny Cash
Charlie Daniels
Alan Jackson
Randy Travis
Last but not least Aaron Tippin who was raised about 30 miles from my hometown -- especially like his "You've Got to Stand for Something".
On a slightly newer front, Josh Turner's "Long Black Train" ain't that bad either.
Pretty sure this list should pass the anti-MacFaglet litmus test

MP3 player is full of all kinds of obscure stuff with a good bit of mainstream music. Favorites are:
Vast, Social Distortion, Sisters of Mercy, Jesus and Mary Chain, Green Day, Rancid, Revolting Cocks, Dropkick Murphys, The Clash, Ministry, Radiohead, Kings of Leon, Weezer, Garvey, Morrissey and Disturbed.
I'm keen on some older stuff as well--the Beatles, CCR, Johnny Cash, Elvis and Jim Reeves.

Nole, I saw the Jesus and Mary Chain at an amphitheater at Mississippi State many years ago, The lead singer came out and said, "Whats with all these f___ing insects!" Cracked me up. Welcome to MS.

It was either my Rupert Holmes reference or pretty much Big T's entire list. Damn, I love that Pina Colada song.

BD, I don't think he spends much time in the outdoors. Great band though. You can't mistake their sound.

So, I'm watching The Late Late show with Craig Ferguson tonight ... And he introduceds Glen Cambell and the guy sings Rinestone stone cowboy...
I didn't know he was still alive. Not that I ever like him but I suppose he had his day. I guess he was quite the partier with Tanya huh? I don't mean to be disrepectful but ... he looked like hell and sounded worse ... did anybody else see that ?

Most anything from the 50's to the 90's. After the 90's most folks quit making music and just started making noise. There are times when classical music hits the spot as well. Blue Grass, Country, Southern Rock'n Roll ... all good.
