There are also restrictions on what type life preserver for inshore and offshore. This gets abused as well as most rules during scallop season.

It's a thankless job and I'm glad they are there but like most goverment employees, some of them have no business interacting with the public.

I've NEVER gotten a warning. I've been cited for EVERY "violation." I've paid violations for fishing the Aucilla and not having a fresh water license due to the fact that my dad caught a bass while fishing for reds and threw it in the livewell. He had his fresh water license. We got checked at the ramp while driving off. Everything else checked out fine. Got a ticket last year for idleing back to the lighthouse ramp in the wake zone canal. My 5 year old took his vest off when we got to the wake zone. Yet again, everything else checked out fine on the boat, fish, etc. If he was 6, no problem No warning. $90 fine. 2 weeks ago, we got checked and everything was fine. When the officer approached us at the ramp while loading, he began his "friendly" "How was the fishing conversation?" I just cut to the chase and told him that we were running late geting back to town and didn't have time to chat since he was obviously going to give us a complete inspection. My buddy grabbed the safety equipment, while I grabbed the fish from the livewell and opened all the compartments. It still took 7 minutes before we were on our way because he insisted on writing a safety inspection.


I did notice my whistle missing from the boat the other day, so I picked one up at Wally World for $1.50

My wife is my #1 noisemaker which is why she's often not with me (meaning hardly ever) which is why I carry a whistle!

most are about 18-20", but Im sure the FWC wouldn't mind a larger one
