So glad to be retired and away from that crazy circus. If anyone can see a 'poon in black coffee two feet off the bow they're welcome to it. Still, I've been staying up at nights wondering if my good buddy flyfishguy ever got a clue.

Yes we have tried west pass a few times this summer but i havent been over yalls way in a few weeks. The water was really nasty last time so we tried to use some live and cut bait for the smell and that did'nt pan out, the sharks took over.

Congrats on your retirement silverking... i hope there is such a thing as a retirement when i get up in age.

You know, I had this problem snook fishing in St. Petersburg. I found a great lure to catch dozens of snook a day at some particular spots I knew. It seemed to work in any condition, so I took some good friends. They continue to fish these spots with that same lure regularly. My productivity has reduced significantly. If you don't want somebody to take your spot, then you tell nobody at all. That's just the issue. A spot is much more fun to fish with a buddy than alone. Sometimes you just have to pay the price. I was just spotted by a group of guys catching multiple redfish over 38" in a tiny pond. I thought they were carp at first.. I don't expect that pond to produce the same magic when I return.

P.S. Everyone who owns a beach house at alligator point, has a friend who does, or even just regularly visits the public beach, knows there are tarpon there for the catching. Doesn't take some dogged trailblazer to figure that out. I'll bet they fished them there back in the 40's when they did WWII training down there.
