Headed down to St Marks Saturday evening to stay at a friends house so we could get an early start Sunday. While hanging in the garage BS’ing re-rigging and having a couple of beers we noticed the misfortune of one of the guys, jeep sitting in the driveway with a flat, this comes into play later.
Didn’t get the early start we wanted, little to much BS’ing and beers. On the water at 6:30 out the river and headed west. Started a drift in about 3.5 ft of water with a north wind and it wasn’t long before the first trout was caught, short, on live shrimp. Friend catches a little shad so I stick him on a cork and let him drift behind the boat. On the second drift it was on, fishing a white/pink curly tail yum under a CT I get hammered and after a short fight net a 23â€

Thanks again finniefish
I seemed to be dysfunctional yesterday
First not catching anything while you guys seemed to be slaying them
Then the lost pompano by the boat (we would have had a really nice cooler if I waited for the net - DOH!)
When I finally got another one on, a spanish, the only thing I could say was "Get the net. Get the net." I thought I was going to get skunked, what a relief.
Then the plastic over the hooks on the cork - I saw them when I bought it but forgot I guess...
First cast ever using one... hit... another hit... and as the lure got closer to the boat... I could see the fish following it before it peeled off
Reel in, look at the cork, and dang - I feel pretty dumb
And we actually had 4 trout not 3
"And confusion with the net?" hehehe
Two fish on, Im between you guys, and wasnt sure who reeled in first...
I guess I did kinda have a deer in the headlight thing - going left and right, not knowing which way the fish was going to go
Was lots fun
