I am no technical expert, but if its happened , it is possible.
I tend to look for the simple solutions, no point making things complicated.

Same thing happens with cable, Rodbow. The TV will go out, but the internet connection still works. However, more often, it's vicey vercey.

I've heard of similar events. Static electricity does some strange things. A bolt of lightning hit a tree near my buddies house. Jumped from the tree to the soffit of the house, ran down the soffit to jumped to he phone line and killed every phone in his house. Even the one plugged into his modem. It did not harm the modem or the PC. Strangest thing I had ever seen....

Only thing I can think of was the TS killed the phone somewhere other than your house. The physical wiring is the same but the frequency and end connections are different for phone and DSL. Then again, what do I know.

K-not-Smart had both a digital camera and a cordless phone set on sale that I picked up today.
The lightening must have zapped the old base unit somehow and left everything else alone.
Maybe the digital camera will get some use tomorrow!
