Lake Carr - 5/27/2006

Hit Lake Carr at daybreak. It was my first visit there.
The bite was pretty mild, but they were biting. I'm still having trouble with fish getting off my hook in the grass once I get them near the boat. It's almost an insulting thing. I get them nursed through ungodly vegetation (pads and grass) and get them just to the point that I can see them and they toss the hook.
I lost two small bass close to the boat and one decent sized pike. Speaking of pike, I did manage to avoid the big goose egg by wrestling my first pike safely into the boat.
They're a good fighting fish, but hurt like hell when you lip 'em! LOL! Just kidding. I'm dumb, but I ain't stupid. Here's a picture of my first pike.

I had a larger one hooked that got off right near the boat. I had yet another larger one follow my Snaggless Sally w/Pork Frog right up to the boat before gumming on it, but not taking the hook.
I had a couple of nicer bass that need glasses. They exploded on my spinner bait with some pretty remarkable zeal, but managed to miss the entire bait. Crazy fish!
Anyway, it wasn't the most productive, but I did get to fish a new place and spend the morning in relative solitude. You can't beat that!
