Hi guys! I've been visiting for about a year now and I have enjoyed your posts. It looks like I may have a new project boat. just aquired a 19' Star CC that was made in Perry, Fl. It's been sitting under my buddy's house at shell point for about 2 years. I just brought her back to Ga. to see if it could be salvaged into something. Anybody have any info on these boats?

Afraid I'm not of any help with the boat; but, welcome anyway. I'm sure someone will chime in once the long weekend is up.

Welcome aboard, Melas1.

I have no knowledge of a Star boat. Is it glass or aluminum?

This is a glass bost made by Welch Custom Fiberglass in Perry Fl. apparently sometime in the 70's. In the last few hours I have found the transom rotted as well as some soft spots in the floor. The hull appears to be very sound and looks as though it would make a good bay boat. I'm considering doing a major rebuild because of the potential. But, my experience with fiberglass has been limited. Have any of you guys ever tackled something like this?

Yea, thanks Rocket. The plan is to strip the inside down to the hull and start over. I don't know what to be looking for in regards to floor material. Marine ply or some NASA type material. Any thoughts?

You don't want to know my first thought. I'd be inclined to start with a different boat, only because I'd rather be fishing than working on a boat.
However, good luck with it. There are guys around here who can point you in the right direction.

If you want to save some money, buy a boat that doesn't need that much attention....If you like tinkering on boats, have the tools, the time and the money to bring it back to life...then it's a good project.

Some places to start doing some research would be on the following pages: classicseacraft.com, classicmako.com, thehulltruth.com, bateau2.com

Your budget will decide what materials you want to use...Post some pics we would love to see the boat
