Trolling motor

Going to mount a trolling motor on my 17 ft. Aquasport, looking at a 55lb thrust, 12 volt Riptide. Is this enough motor for this area? Also, can anyone recommend a battery for this trolling motor.

I'd probably look into a little bit larger 24V motor for your boat. If you can only fit a single battery then the 55lb will work though. For batteries it is hard to beat AC Delco Voyager deep cycles. If you only have room for one, get the group 30 to run the 55lb thrust motor. If you plan to go with a 24V motor get two group 24 batteries.
