4 of us Left The Moorings slip around 6:30 looking for some bottom dwellers. First stop to check the trap, and only one lonely pinfish
oh well, off we go. First and only stop was 16 miles out in 72ft. Conditions seemed fine until about 1/2 out, and it started getting rougher, problem being that the wind and tide were opposing each other and just beatin the tar outa us.
Got anchored on the spot and let the baits go. The bite was really strange, no hard slamming, a very soft tap, pause, tap, but not to soft to stop us from catchin a few nice Groupers, and a small King. Then I latched onto something, (big shark I guess) after one hour and three trips around the boat I about had it, was sitting on the cooler seat, and the rod was bent about as far as it could go. Hand me those sizzers so I can cut this thing, about that time the line snapped. Anyway after about 5 hours of this beating it was time to go, and we finished with a few fish.
7 Groupers biggest 12.5#
1 King @ 13#
Sorry no pics, I had some, and the camera is MIA.
