Anyone ever fish with any Capt Mike's Lures and or Spoons?

Love the spoons for reds!

Hell I have fished with Capt. Mike himself back when he was first working on his lures. I wonder if he is still guiding or just doing his lure business. He sure did put us on the fish.

Mike wanted lures that he could use in the very shallow waters of the Mosquito Lagoon. Most lures sank too fast in the shallow water. His first lures were plastic jigs with very light heads some even with foam popper heads. I've got some in a box of lures somewhere. He started working on the gold spoons because the Johnson spoon sank a little too quickly. I always used an 1/8 oz johnson spoon because they hit the water with less splash and did not sink as quickly. Mike designed a spoon with a larger profile and slower sink rate. I really like them.

It's been my go-to lure for reds. The second largest red I've ever caught, 37 inches, (Port Sulphur, LA), was caught on the Capt Mike spoon with the single hook and the chartreuse back.

Jerry's Bait and Tackle carries them. Or order them directly from Capt. Mike.
