Ok So I bought some nice All Star rods 7ft once for trout/red fisherin. I got some cabelas salt striker reels to go with them but for whatever reason I dont think I can fit them on the rod. I have never in my entire 24 year old life
had this problem. It's almost as if the part that goes on the rod is to big to fit in the slots. I mean never in my entire life have I ever had a problem like this, maybe im just not pushing hard enough...

When I use to bass fish alot I used Allstar rods and it seemed the reel seats were always too small, take a thin flat head screw driver ,insert it under the seat and gently,I repeat gently pry up and you should be able to make it work unless the reel is too large for the rod.St.Croix and Castaway inshore rods and my favorite the ugly stick lite are equal or greater quality and they don't use the small seats.Hope this helps, but this is just my opinion.

What size reels are they and what size rods are they?

Yeah for some reason the reels are to big for the rod which I find odd. I love the way the All-Star rods feel but I will return the reels to cabelas and get some nice reels I know that will work. Thanks for all the help.

Hey there, AllStars are nice. I've also returned Cabels reels (didn't hold up). The company is real good about returns -although if you're in the "combo" situation it gets tricky.
Regardless, I'm replying to say that I can't say enough good about the 2500 Shimanno Symetre. Just get one. I research this stuff to the point of silliness. The Symetre is basically a less expensive Stradic. I like the Spheros too but they don't make the 2500 size.
Also, (from elsewhere) Captn Mikes stuff -I like the lures but the 1/16 oz jigs are my favorites of all jigs. A lot of fine points as to why -brass & heavy weight hooks like the assassins but the 1/16 has the longer shank. Almost no one else makes a decent 1/16 that can be fished slow & kept just out of the grass in 1-3 feet. I have never found them near Tallahassee. Closest so far is Half Hitch in Port St Joe.

Yeah I got some plugs from them stuffed with fish bites.
I also got some without and some bottom fishing hooks.
I will check out those reels and may end up buying some.
