Celebrated the birth of my first grandchild (a beautiful baby girl) with a Econfina Sunrise. Is was a great day, took a friend and his son (A military man visiting from Idaho) fishing for a trout supper. We put the boat in the water at 6AM and took it out about 11:30AM. Started the day off with a keeper rock bass. First one of those in quite a while. By the time we quit we had our 3 man limit of trout to go with the rock bass. Most all were caught on jigs under CT's from 4 to 6 feet of water. Color did not seem to matter. Small chop on the water with the bite on. When the chop laid down so did the bite. A good first time flats fishing for our Military man with this bonus cobia.

I have not seen one with this color. Can anyone enlighten me to if this is common or not ? Also, my fishing buddy caugt a 14" grouper while fishing for trout bouncing a jig off the bottom.
I look forward to getting my granddaughter on the flats with me one day.

I think that coloration is pretty typical on juvenile fish but I'm not positive. Congrats on a good trip.

The blue markings indicate a juvenile fingerling Cobbie.

As the cobia ages, you are more likely to see a single silver-gray gaff marking on one side or the other.

That's exactly what all the cobia I've ever caught looked like because they were SHORT (young)!!

If I had to say one was the best, It would be new penny. I'm going tomorrow evening. I'll report Sunday...Happy Fathers Day
