I'm in the process of bringing my old jon boat back to life. It is an o-l-d fiberglass (read HEAVY) 14'. I'll have a 9.9 on the back. Will it be suicide to try to go to the birdrack or rock garden? I've never been there and understand it to be about a mile out. While I'm at it, what type of paint should I use for the outside? I've seen the stuff at Boaters World and West Marine for almost $50 a quart. Someone throw me a tip to save some money.
Your boat will be fine out there if you're aware of the weather. Jon boats run out there all the time.
I painted one of my boats with epoxy appliance paint. It would probably take 6 cans to paint your boat. It costs $6 a can. That's not a lot cheaper than the boat paint.
