Got a late start and headed out of Live Oak Island at 10:30 with a little bit of breeze out of the east. Running out of the mouth of Walker Creek we saw a school of bait on the surface and stopped for a drift. Picked up the Spanish and a couple short trout. After one drift we headed on to the rock pile.

Picked up a short red on a yellow Rapala Skitterwalk that I broke off right beside the boat. The dazed and cofused fish hesitated, giving me enough time to grab the landing net, scoop him up and get my lure back. Did one more drift through here and got a strike by something pretty decent, but didn't hook up.

By now the breeze had died and we headed on ESE out to the scallop bar. Loads of bait out here on the flats, birds working, fish striking. The action was slow, but steady, for the rest of the day. The trout were hitting jigs under Cajun Thunders and 5MS, 7M and 52M MirrOlures, at high noon, slick calm from the Ochlockonee River to the light house, in 1-4' of water. Released a bunch of short trout, ladyfish, small bluefish and a puffer that hit a 7M MirrOlure. Between 1 and 2 PM the breeze started back up out of the east and then shifted to out of the south a little after 3. We rounded out our limits of keepers with the big two just a shade over 20" about 7 PM.

Had one decent bluefish attack Dad's 5M and come after us. Luckily Dad was able to save us by cutting him off on the foot of the motor before he got in the boat. :-D

The water is much clearer that it was on Sunday. Saw several sharks up in the shallow water, the big one a ~6' bull. Saw 4 tarpon working the channel edge, probably saw the same pair twice. About the same size as the ~100+ pounder that took my "it was chrome before so many reds knocked all the finish off it" She-Dog away from me, after a dramatic 10 minute battle with very nice aerial display, Saturday late afternoon right out in front of Live Oak Island. :D

Unfortunately I don't get many of them.

Great time spend with your Dad - extending that Father's Day a bit longer

Posting the picture and identifying the gentlemen as your dad was entirely redundant :-D
