St. Andrews Bay 06/24/06

Tides and moon were ripe for fish'n...I gave Tincan a call a few days ago and asked if he was interested in chasing a redfish...He agreed to meet this morning at 5:00 for a rendezvous with a redfish.

Got a little later start than I hoped too  But we made it to the ramp around 6ish to find the parking lot full.

We arrive at my top secret redfish hole to find five boats in it  Oh well we slide in between them and started phish'n...Tincan hooks up with a redfish on topwater....It came unglued....He hooks up with another and it came unglued as well.

The wind is blowing wrong for the bank, so I make the decision to move across the bay...A rather rough ride, but we make it fairly dry.

Start fishing the bank and grass points...I finally get a redfish to eat my spoon....While I am battling the beast, Tincan fires his spoon with cheap hooks down the bank and hooks into another red....I land mine, 23.5" in the box it goes.....About this time Tincan's fish is wrapped in the weeds, I dip net the fish...25 incher goes into the box.

We fish on around the little bay and pick up a few more short reds and trout....I got hammered by a big red that peeled 50 yards of line off in a hurry....Took me into the grass, leader cut/broke one inch from the swivel  .

It's getting hot by now...We decide to make some breeze and move back across the bay. We ended up getting a few more redfish...A thunderhead rolled up from the north and Tincan was in need of some rest before his tournament tomorrow, so we pack it in.

Total for the day:
Hooked redfish - 8
Landed redfish - 4
A handful of short trout
One Skitterwalk, Mirrolure and a pocket knife donated to the fish gods

Great day on the water with my long lost tournament partner...Nothing broke, boat ran great, can't wait to do it again.
