Left fort behind a crabber at 5:30 and ran to a trout hole with a buddy. Action picked up when wind and tide picked up. We boated 7 keepers to 21" on topwater, lost a few too, all in 2 - 3' of water. This was good action over broken bottom, about an hour. Dropped my skitterwalk on a 8-9' shark, but he spooked
We left the trout biting to look for reds. It was okay on the rise, we hooked 7, landed 5, but today all were 17-18". Saw only 3 bigger fish and these were nice fish, over the slot. Had one of these miss my spoon.
Can't wait till next time

Good deal, RS. Glad to hear all the trout havn't gone deep to escape the heat.
You know, if we don't let our little yankee buddy catch some reds, he's gonna stop going with us.

I only saw one "good red" yesterday as well. Like you said, the rest were all smaller.

Had a guy stop by and said he boated only pups day before. Slot reds may be in deeper water, river mouths? We looked way up creeks and shoreline.

The only good one (24"+) was in a creek mouth with about a dozen pups, and a pile of mullet.
I think they are in deeper water as well.

To see reds from St Marks go to Kayak section. Sorry I probably shouldn't double post.
