My sunday bay trip

I didn't get out to the bay until around 2 pm, bought some shrimp 'cause I had the lady in tow and she aint much into throwin grubs. Launched out of fowl river, wind was coming from the s.e. around 5-10 mph when i first hit the bay, had a 5.3 lb. 19" triple tail in the boat within 5 minutes that I found hanging under a floating cypress tree. Ran down to the denton reef to soak some shrimp and hopefully let her catch a redfish...within 20-30 minutes was caught in a one of the nastiest storms I've been in while in the bay, wind switched to the n.w and it went from 1/2' chop to 3's. Ran south tryin' to dodge the lightening bolts. After we were soaking wet it looked like the lightning had stopped so I turned the boat around to go ahead back into the wind....took more than a few over the bow, a couple times I really thought the boat was going to blow over on top of us.....Ofcourse pass another triple tail that was hanging around abunch 2x3's that were nailed together floating south....wanted to try it but she can't drive a boat and I was really worried that the boat was going to get swamped if I had turned around....it was really that bad, Took prolly 30 minutes to scoot back to the fowl river channel, couldn't go over 5-10mph, then the rain got us....man....h@ll of a day. Messed around in fowl river for a little while and let the wind calm back down, headed out to Mid bay light house cause someone told me the specks had been there feeding late, and caught more than a few hardheads/whitetrout/sailcats, but couldn't find mr. specklebelly. ....yall be good!

Glad to hear you handled the conditions and made it back safe.... When you get that feeling that the wind is gonna get under the bow and flip the boat back on top of you it's time to call it a day for sure. I'd be whisle'n dixie but not through my lips! :o
