Well if you read my insane fishing story for the past Saturday you would know my boat go towed back into the Fort. When we got out to the St Marks Reef the motor would not even make any noises or anything. When I turned the key to get it going nothing happend no sound or nothing. I have plent gas in the boat and my batteries were fully charged before I left. So once I get home the motor works fine and I flushed the motor and everything but im scared to go out again because I dont feel like getting stuck.

I am not really sure what could be wrong with it besides either something inside the motor or maybe there are some shorts somewhere?
Its done this before but I have always been able to get it to work so
something must be going on. I have a J16 Carolina Skiff with a 25HP 4 Stroke Honda.

Check the connections on the cranking battery. Mine did that once and I had a bad connection on the hot terminal.

Could be the in gear lockout. Had that problem on the key west and it drove me crazy for about 15 minutes thinking it was a battery issue. Had to play with the gear shift as I had the key cranking to get it running.

Sounds like definitely connection/electrical problem.....between battery/motor/starter check all that.....don't forget to check the ground, it will give you the same problem. I would take everything loose clean/protect and reinstall.......luk.........

Personally I did not think there was anything wrong with the motor I thought it was an electrical problem myself. I'm glad you guys think the same .
There are 2 Positive power cables coming from each bettery to the battery selectory switch. They seem to have corroded a little bit so I may purchase 2
of those at West Marine. I am also tempted to get brand new battery but that is expensive but I guess better safe than sorry. Tom that was something I also thought about as well because from all the waves ive been hitting the gaer shaft is a little lose but im pretty sure its ok.

I had a connection problem at the battery switch last year.....I guess all that bouncing caused the connection to become loose....tightened it....no more problems...I think you'll solve it in short time...

Everything everyone has mentioned are possibilities, and good places to look for electrical problems. electrical problems are a nightmare. I had a simular problem on one of my boats. Turned out the wire from the ignition switch to the solenoid was broke. You could turn the motor to the left and it would crank. Turn it to the right and it wouldn't. With the motor turned left there was enough contact to activate the solenoid. As I said, electrical problems can be a nightmare. A test light and multi meter are your best friends. Good luck.

Also, don't forget to check connection and working order of the kill switch.

I fixed the boat!

The motor wouldnt even make any sounds this morning or crank at all. I left work an hour early hoping to figure out what was wrong and well I did! Once I got home it still wouldnt crank or nothing so I looked on the battery selectory switch and the "Red + cable that goes from the 1 position to my Starter Battery" appeard to be lose. I Think what happend is it was moved by
all the waves that it was still on there but it was put in such a way where it wasnt making any contact. So I tightest the bolts and everything and attempted to turn the motor on and it purred like a kiten You can expect to see me out tomorrow!

After you check the battery connections and all that other stuff and the motor still does nothing, check the fuse on the motor itself. The is a 15 or 20 amp fuse on the yammies that is part of the ignition. I have seen that problem alot here lately.
