The new and previously unknown Hobie Adventure Island kayak was inadvertently released early in an advertisement in the August 2007 National Geographic. This left Hobie scrambling to notify dealers of the new addition to their 2007 lineup.

While not my cup of tea, this kayak already has some people happy in the pants and ALREADY putting their regular Adventures up for sale!

Here are some pictures provided by Hobie's own Matt Miller and as released on the KFS website. Just wanted to share with my friends here:

The kayak itself doesn't interest me as it looks like it would be a bear to get in and out of the water. I can't imagine that it will be car-toppable without taking it darn near apart. That means, to me, that you'll need a dedicated trailer for it.

While the kayak doesn't hold my interest, those sponsons do! I'd love to have ONE to rig up as an outrigger. For bonus points there would be a rear hatch added allowing you to use the darn thing for storage. They look big enough to actually serve as a pretty good place for rods and other camping/fishing/touring gear!

Enjoy!

I'm guessing 120 lbs but I like it. Probably going to go for $3500 is my guess.
