The NFGFC all species tourney started with registration at Jerry's by 6AM and everyone on their way to any location to be back at Jerrys for count in at 3PM. Woodburn and I where out of the lighthouse with the sun coming up and headed west. Fished Pattys island and as the morning progressed followed the stake line south. Not much action early caught a ladyfish, catfish, and shark, along with two short trout. Moved out to St Marks reef for awhile and land a ramora, and 3 spanish. Headed to east flats and caught a keeper trout. We only had the six species but it was a really bad day for my partner as he spent more time sweating and groaning about how crappy he felt, and I must say he did look like sh#@, hope you feel better.

Below are a bunch of pics from the count in, I am not goin to speak for anyone except Weavens said something about 8 miles out of Alligator Point for the grouper (numbers please) and TroutTrent said something about the biggest school of redfish he has ever seen.

First place I believe was 12 fish and big fish was the grouper at 18 pounds. JT51 can post the results.

Forgot to mention the one other thing I caught, got to experience my first through and through. Caught a spanish and while trying to unhook him stuck my thumb, in and out. Spanish still on and thrashing my hand around, got the fish off and was able to cut barb and pull it out. Bled like a stuck pig but could not let something like that keep me from fishing. Nothing a little duck tape won't fix. Put the lure back on and caught another spanish.

Wevans will never give up those grouper numbers. In fact they are so secret he wouldn't even take his partner.

Are kayaks allowed, because I think we could bring some competition to the inshore guys. "I'm just saying".

Well - this is the "partner" that was left standing at the bank :smt005 My being late not only hurt my pride but also cost me to lose out of the big fish pot  Wevans teaches a hard cruel lesson there folks. Jumptrout said it best "time and tide wait for no woman"

Thanks to JT for letting me hitch a ride on his float and his gracious partner, Tommy, who didn't mind either. Glad I could add a few species to the pot in return.

Did anyone mention just how HOT it was :smt010

Thanks again JT and Tommy. Thanks also to Weavans for jolting me out of complacency in the future.

It was fun :P

Hehe... his mishap actually livened me up since I impaled myself on a trip with finniefish a few years ago.

Sea Gurl wrote:Did anyone mention just how HOT it was
My god was it HOT.

I was hot, weak, sweating profusely, semi-dizzy, felt too weak to fish, and wanted to go home. It was horrible. The lack of a breeze made it unbearable. I felt better getting wind when moving however lost it when we stopped. Heat stroke was going through my mind.

I told finniefish if the wind didnt pick up, he could drop me off at the boat ramp and I would call someone to pick me up. He said nothing although I knew he heard me. Suck it up I thought  which is what he probably thought too.

On our way to St Marks Reef, my spirits lifted since there appeared to be a breeze pushing the water some. Salvation. It was bearable enough to laydown under the bimini and rest.

I fished some here and there but not much.
My only catch Saturday was a 7in trout in front of the LH on our way in

We didnt put up the bimini until 11ish... right before we headed out to St Marks Reef. I was feel very very green and the heat amplified things.
