Got a late start, Got out on the water at 9. Headed west along the shore and drifted back east. At about 9:20 I landed a keeper trout. About 20 minutes later I got a 13" trout, Followed by 2 cats. Around 12 I had a unknown fish hit and ran with it and eventually broke my line before i saw him. We assumed it was a shark. After that i headed east about 5 miles and had no luck. Fished with jigs. Not to good of a day for me. JR's has been out of live shrimp for a while anybody know where to get some, Or what the hot bait is?

F4 welcome. Sounds like a tuff day. It can be hit and miss during these hot months. Hate to beat this drum but the Berkly Gulps are really catching fish, but there expensive. I've used them some lately and had some success. Don't know how we caught fish before them.

Welcome aboard
As far as shrimp...Jerry's had em on Saturday

a little on the small side but that's not his fault.

He was expecting another load in the same day. I've tried the Gulp shrimp like most everyone. The pin fish love em...

I can't really say I've caught more fish on them than ever before on anything else (maybe they are just the current thing this year... imo) and I just found out what happens if you leave one on your rig for a week

and I've also found out what happens to a soft takle bag if the zip lock bag leaks a little

. I'm gonna use up what I got but won't necessarly make it a priority to search for more. Sure wouldn't discourage anyone from using them or trying them out.

Fisherman4.....I have been fishing the same area as you tried. I have had verygood luck on Gulp shrimp by Berkely. Like they say, it's expensive, but I have had probably the best luck this year in a long time around where you went. When you compare the cost of a 100 shrimp.....Gulp are cheap....and you can get them most anywhere.

I use about 1 to 2 bags per trip....$12.00.

Gulp shrimp have been a rare find in Tallahassee lately. Walmart recently told me that every week when they restock the shelves, a couple that run a local tackle shop will buy up every bag they have to mark up and resell.
I like to have a few bags on hand in case other bait isnt available. I recently ordered some online after hearing the walmart thing above. I got a little chapped about that.
They work well, but I have a hard time calling them "artificial". They are like spam for fish. More durable than shrimp as the pin fish just leave teeth marks in them. They are a good subsitute for live or frozen shrimp if they are not available.
They smell like mayonaise that got left out in the sun to me.
And off the topic - Is JR's pronounced "Junior's" or "Jay Are's"??
