We are taking a family trip to the beach and I would like to surprise my husband by asking him to bring his boat (Kenner Center Console) with us. Is there anywhere that he could launch near Panama City to do some inshore fishing?

Well first off welcome aboard...

Panama City Boat Ramps

The City of Panama City has four public boat ramps. All boat ramps are open to the public 24- hours a day and there is no charge for launching a boat.

The Panama City Marina Boat Ramp is located near the southeast side of the Marina Civic Center on Harrison Avenue.

The Carl Gray Park Boat Ramp is located on Collegiate Drive adjacent to Gulf Coast Community College.

The St. Andrews Marina Boat Ramp is located on Bayview Avenue, one block off Beck Avenue at 11th Court.

The Bob George Park Boat Ramp is located in the 100 block of Church Avenue in the Millville area of the City.

Gore Park ramp off Cherry St. (near Tyndall)

For launching at Panama City Beach you have St. Andrews State park, end of Thomas Drive.

There is a ramp at the base of the HWY 79 bridge, for bay fishing only, limited parking

There is a ramp in Grand Lagoon, but I don't how to get to it

Chalk, this has been along time ago and I could be wrong on this one but when my parents had a place in PC, the Grand Lagoon ramp is right beside the Treasure Ship restaurant in between the gas station and ship. And Chalk you left out info on where one might go inshore fishing. How about some good spots

Not sure out about that one..the one I was referring would be on the north side of the road same area though

Where to fish? Find a creek (not too many), some grass and hold one....I would say West bay would be the most productive, but I'm going to try East bay this weekend cause I need a change of scenery....

Thanks Chalk! Isn't my wife sweet. Our original plans were Mexico Beach, but our usual campground was booked. I was looking forward to fishing St. Joe's bay again. I've never fished the Panama City area. What is my best bet? Not looking for exact locations, just general areas for reds & trout.

There is a public ramp on the lagoon at dolphin avenue. Go across the bridge past treasure ship, then on down, turn right at dead end onto the strip heading west, and dolphin is about 5 or 6 blocks down. Turn right and go to dead end, ramp is next block to the right. I will tell you parking is VERY limited, actually, you probably need to plan to have someone park somewhere else and pick them up. Also, be CAREFUL and follow channels or you will wind up on oyster bars. After launching, go straight across to north side of channel and follow markers to bridge, go under bridge, and keep to left until you are out in the main channel. We use it regularly, but we always park back at the condo at Bay Point and pick everybody up there.

PS, or you can go to the state park, and launch, but beware, the last time I was there, the docks were terrible for a smaller boat, Concrete that will mess up gelcoat fast...

I always lauch at the state park. The dock is well protected from current and waves. Pick up a fishing chart at Half Hitch Bait and Tackle. You may want to go offshore if its calm.

Thanks to all that replied. I picked up a Hot Spot Map. Looks like there are plenty of good places to fish and lots of boat ramps. We are staying at the Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort. Feel free to say hello if you see me out. I'll be in the Black & White Kenner 19' w/ 150 Merc pulled by a white Expedition GA plates. Maybe we can find some fish! I'll report when I return next week.

Talked with gasportsman today. He went out this AM fishing West Bay - said they caught 10 short trout and a ladyfish. Gonna try again this afternoon - trying to find some Reds. Said the fish were caught on Gulps and jigs ; and CT's w/DOA'S.

Mediocre fishing all 3 days. I never found any reds. We did manage to catch some short trout. Fished each morning from around 7:00 - 10:00. Caught most on DOA under a cajun thunder, a few on jigs, and a couple on a gold spoon. Here are the totals.

Sunday - 10 trout, 1 large lady fish
Monday- 2 trout, 1 catfish (dodged thundershowers all morning)
Tuesday - 11 trout (only fished until 9:00 because we had to pack up)
