I moved! That's one poor excuse from my absence around here. But I am slowly creeping back [so look out redfish!], and I have a question for y'all:

I have been keeping my little Whaler 13-footer in the carport. But with my new place, I have a choice of keeping either the boat or my truck in the carport. I have put the boat in there for now. But I don't have a shady area to park the truck in, and of course I sometimes get caught in the rain.

So, I wonder what y'all think.

The boat is a 13ft. Whaler �Sport.� I don't leave the �electronics� on the boat when I park it. It is, of course, fiberglass gellcoat.

Now, if I leave it out in the weather, the next question is, should I put a cover on it? I have a cover that fits it pretty well, but it will trap humidity.

No question... the carport. You'llfind yourself keeping it up or upgrading better because of the easy access. If its out in the yard under a cover it want be as handy to put the charger on the batt or move those rodholders around or add #'s to your GPS , or any of those little things you've been meaning to do to it.

If I had a carport it would be a workshop, and too full of stuff to even consider parking in. Wevans has a good idea.

Keeping in mind that they're called fly tents because when it gets windy they fly away.

Good to see you are finding some free time for fun again.
A 10x15 (or something close) tarp with the silver side up and tied down over a couple of pieces of 1.5" jointed pvc, front to back, will work, til you get a better idea. Leave the front and back open for ventilation. It will be mostly out of the sun, which is what you want anyway.

My garage is fu ll of stuff so the car and truck and in the driveway and my 13' whaler is in the side yard with a 12' by 16' wal-mart tarp over the top with the self-elevated steering console as a brace. Works fine.
