Well I was awaiting a ridiculing report from Fish Masterson, but I believe the heat got to him today, and he's not going to report.
We launched my boat around 7 a.m., and headed for some rocks. We found a hefty school of reds, and he put two in the boat right away. The larger of the two was 26".
I "released" a 18-19" red boat side, anticipating a larger fish to be had.
Moved to another rock pile however nothing more than some good strikes.
Headed to secret creek #1, and I think FM might have boated one or two more legal reds. I proceeded to place the boat in a "holding" pattern
while I re-rigged a rod. At this point my counter part used the phrase "just plain rude" of how the boat was positioned
. I boated a flounder that would have been perfect eating size filleted on a cracker.
We moved to secret creek #2, and it was alive with fish, however by this time they did not want to eat. Mullet, and redfish everywhere! You never have the cast net when you need it. I saw many a redfish, some 30"ers. They just wouldn't bite.
With little to no wind, it got hot, and I think the bite shut down with the heat. We were back to the hill around 12:30ish.
Threw hard jerk baits, jigs, spoons, and twitch baits.
