You may remember I posted a few days ago trying to locate the Suppliers/Manufacturers of Triplefish fluorocarbon line.
Chalk recommended Mr Pat McGriff and he sent me their full contact details.

I emailed them the following message.

"Sirs,
I purchased some of your products on a trip to the US 2 years ago.
I now wish to replace some of it.
Could you please advise me the approx shipping costs to the UK of 2, 4 or 6 spools of line.
Alternatively, do you have a UK Supplier ?
Regards"

Today I received a very curt response.

"I'm sorry we do not, and after two years we would not replace"

Now, I meant "replace", as in purchase more product.
They thought I meant "replace", as in exchange faulty product.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

Your message seems to me you want to buy some not replace it on warranty or otherwise. I do believe they got it wrong for some reason or the other. I would respond to them and say they misinterpeted your message and the response was a little sharp even if understandable. See if they change their attitudes and offer some good discounts on shipping for their misunderstanding. Worth a shot.

I have sent them a very polite email, apologising for the misunderstanding and asking if they could forward the information.
(Being English, we tend to apologise for other peoples mistakes, it called being polite).

What makes it even more ironic is that I bought loads of their other products on that trip and have been singing the praises of their lines over here ever since.
Together with PLine, I think they make some of the best lines I have used, in over 50 years.

Cran, Try talking in English this time... it'll probly go better..

"Or better yet - you got somebody over hear that sales your line for you?"

"You got some good line and I tell evrybody over hear about it" "Pleasse hurry!"

Thanks Bud,

Your friend, Cranthe Man in the motherland

Sometimes English is difficult to understand. Try "Me need line. You got line. Me got money. You send line." That should work. 8)

Cran, the problem is people over here don't speak English. They speak American. In our part of the country they speak Southern American.

Seperated by a shared language.

If you sent the message to Pat McGriff, I'm not surprised by the response, but surely someone else handles this stuff.

Mr McGriff was very polite and helpful, giving me all the necessary contact information.
The response came direct from an unamed individual at Triplefish.

The reason for my question regarding P&P to the UK, is that it varies so much.

Recently, I was going to purchase an item that cost $6.49 (weight about 2oz), the Company made a big thing of their "Export round the World" policy and yet the only method of delivery they offered to the UK was UPS International 2-5 days, that would cost me $111.50. :o
What a no-brainer.
When I politely drew this anomoly to their attention, I received no reply.

However, I have purchased small items that have taken 7 days to be delivered and cost me less that $10.

Some Companies try and others don't.

Chalk, I appreciate the offers to help by sending me things, but I really don't like causing people any inconvenience, its my natural English reserve.

ANYWAY, the dress was the wrong colour and didn't fit, also the doll was punctured, so your track record is hardly exemplary.

Okay, then I insist on doing it and if you don't let me help, my feelings (only have one) will be hurt; the mental anguish and humiliation will scar me for life.... So, this discomfort you have caused me can only be exonerated if you let me help you out.

BTW - I will be in country (kinda) in the late winter/early spring may be we can work out a rendezvous…maybe we can arrange a fishing trip and you can indulge me in the sophisticated taste of elder water and fine cuisine

Charles, black pudding is an acquired taste, not for the peasants and ferret legging has to be experienced, to be appreciated.
Both noble parts of my heritage. :lick:

Chalk, let me know when and where (assuming we are not travelling) and we will certainly arrange something.
You could take the doll back with you and "replace" it.
